The Susquehannock girls' basketball team was down two points at halftime. The Warriors, however, made a second-half surge and punched their ticket to the PIAA Class 5A girls' basketball tournament semifinals.

Saturday's quarterfinals contest saw Susquehannock trail Southern Lehigh, 23-21, at halftime. A 35-15 second-half run followed, however, as the Warriors won 56-38 to advance to the state semis.

The Warriors will now face Archbishop Wood on Tuesday in the PIAA Class 5A semifinals. Time and location of the game are yet to be announced.

The Warriors' second-half turnaround was triggered by point guard Jayla Galbreath, according to senior forward Tyler Williams.

Galbreath scored six-straight points to open the third quarter to spark the Warriors.

"We came out and said we're only down two. That's one basket," Williams said. "Then Jayla gave us what we needed. That was big."

The Warriors gave up some untimely 3-pointers in the first half, according to head coach Dave Schreiner. He added the team looked to pick up the offensive tempo in the third quarter before slowing down, running clock and capitalizing at the free-throw line to close out the contest.

Galbreath led the Warriors with 13 points and Williams scored 12. Taylor Tannura and Anna Mahan each scored nine while Jayden Walker (seven points) and Madison Stone (six points) rounded things out.

"We were balanced," Schreiner said. "Teams can't key in on one person. And that helped us against Southern Lehigh."
