York Catholic girls blow out Trinity to open season

SHIREMANSTOWN - At the sound of another whistle, Kate Bauhof turned around in disgust, her motion almost synchronized with York Catholic coach Kevin Bankos. Whistled for her third foul in the second quarter, Bauhof went to the bench early in the season opener at Trinity High School.

But it didn't matter.

Even with a young roster, with just one senior on the team, York Catholic distanced itself from Trinity early in the game and breezed to a 60-32 victory Saturday afternoon.

Bauhof, an all-state junior guard, tied for a team-high 12 points with sophomore Gina Citrone. Sophomore Katy Rader added 11 points

The Irish jumped out to a 24-11 lead in the first quarter. First-year Irish player, Abigail Pilkey, scored seven of her nine points in the opening quarter. A transfer from Kennard-Dale, the 6-foot-1 junior adds another post presence for the Irish.

"I was more excited than nervous," Pilkey said of her first game with the Irish. "At first I was nervous to see how different it would be, but once we started jelling it felt good."
