Roundup: Bauhof drops 31 in Irish win


Kate Bauhof scored 31 points, including a superb 14-of-18 effort from the free-throw line, as York Catholic opened the season with a 73-59 victory against Trinity on Saturday in a non-tournament game.

Emily Laslo and Jania Wright also hit double figures with 15 and 12, respectively, as eight different Irish players scored.

York Suburban 32, New Oxford 29: With the score tied at 29, Suburban's Georgia Dumars hit a 3 at the buzzer to give York Suburban the victory.

Ali Reinecker scored six of her team high 10 points in the fourth quarter as the Trojans rallied from a 23-18 fourth quarter deficit.

The Colonials scored just six points, all from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter as their lead evaporated down the stretch. Kaelyn Long chipped in a team-high 10 points.

Bishop McDevitt 48, West York 47: The Bulldogs' Morgan Bamberger poured in a game-high 18 points including three 3-pointers, but West York dropped a tight one to the Crusaders. West York led by a point at halftime, and the teams were tied after three quarters. The Bulldogs made just 9-of-23 free throws.

Olivia Fasick paced McDevitt with 14 points.

Hempfield Tip-Off

Lampeter-Strasburg 50, Dallastown 43: After a difficult showing in Friday’s opening round contest of the Hempfield tournament, Dallastown dropped a competitive match versus Lampeter-Strasburg in Saturday’s consolations.

Behind by as much as 15 points in the fourth quarter, the Wildcats (0-2) reeled off an 11-4 run to close to within six of the Pioneers (1-1). But Lampeter-Strasburg played keep-away the final two minutes to close-out the contest.

“It’s a new team, and it’s an exciting process,” said head coach of the Wildcats Mary Manlove. “Last night was a difficult opponent, and to rebound the way they did and show the poise and the tenacity they did in the last two quarters, we’re thrilled with that.”

Wildcats sophomore Julia Sutton had 10 of her 21 points in the fourth quarter to lead Dallastown. The Pioneers were led by Nevin Hoenninger, who buried four second-half 3's on her way to a game-high 25 points.
