Dave Trimbur, executive director of Big 33, dies

Dave Trimbur, executive director of the Big 33, has died according to a message posted on the Big 33 Facebook page.

Trimbur was executive director of the Big 33 since February, 2009, according to a report on PennLive.com. Trimbur was also the vice president of the Panther Foundation at Central York High School and was a central figure in the regional football community.

The Big 33 Football Classic is an all-star football game featuring the top players from Pennsylvania going toe-to-toe with all-stars from another state. The game has been played since 1957 and has had at least one alum in each of the NFL's Super Bowls.

The game has seen different variations in the past as well, with Pennsylvania all-stars squaring off against top players from Maryland, Ohio and Texas at different points in time.

"Dave was just a great person to have around," said Central York head football coach Josh Oswalt.

"It's a very sad day for Central York football and the community," Oswalt said. "It's a sad day for the youth in this area."
