Gettysburg beats West York, finishes with 6-4 record

The Gettysburg Warriors finished the 2016 season on a high note, beating West York 14-9 on Friday night.

The game was played at Gettysburg High School.

One year removed from a 1-9 season, the Warriors finished the 2016 campaign with a 6-4 overall record and 4-2 mark in YAIAA Division II. Two years ago, Gettysburg was a playoff team.

"It was an exciting night, especially for our seniors," said Warriors head coach Matt Heiser. "It goes in the books as a winning season."

The Warriors received two receiving touchdowns on the evening. The first came courtesy of receiver Ammon Robinson, who, according to Heiser, caught a short hitch pass and went the distance, racing over 50 yards for a touchdown.

The second came when Oakley Marsh caught a short scoring pass with the Warriors trailing 9-7 late in the fourth quarter.

West York would get the ball back with just under a minute remaining, according to Heiser, but the Gettysburg defense held.

West York finished its season with a 2-8 overall record, going 2-4 in YAIAA Division II.
