Bermudian blows out Biglerville to clinch playoffs

Bermudian Springs wrapped up a spot in the District 3 Class 3A playoffs, blowing out Biglerville, 41-0, on the road Friday night.

The Eagles (8-2, 6-1 YAIAA Division III) got off to a fast start when Ashton West ran for a touchdown on the team's first drive and defensive lineman Aaron Becker scored the next possession when Biglerville fumbled a snap trying to punt. Bermudian rushed for 267 yards as a team and quarterback Chase Dull went 7-of-7 for 86 yards as the Eagles led by 34 at halftime.

"That’s the biggest thing, building off this momentum for the playoffs," head coach Jon DeFoe said. "I'm proud of how we bounced back from losing to York Catholic to beat a good Littlestown team and then taking care of business tonight from opening whistle."

Devon Hodgen scored two touchdowns for Bermudian while Addison Wheeler and Ryan Curfman added scores on the ground. The Eagles also contained star Biglerville running back Reggie Adams, preventing him from scoring on 27 carries.

The Canners (0-10, 0-7) finished the season winless after sharing the Division III title with Hanover last year.

"Credit to (Biglerville coach) Alex (Ramos) and his guys, they had a tough season but they played hard," DeFoe said.
