Delone Catholic shuts out York County Tech

Behind a strong running game and a dominant defense, Delone Catholic defeated York County Tech, 37-0, on the road Saturday afternoon.

According to Delone head coach Corey Zortman, the Squires got close to 100 yards rushing from both Ryan and Zach Hart in the win. Both brothers scored two touchdowns, and Sean Sneeringer added another rushing score to help Delone (6-3, 3-3) win its second straight game.

"The last few years we were trending downward. We pitched to the kids moving the needle in right direction," Zortman said. "Once you get to this part of the season, you don’t know what the outcome will be, but our kids really embraced trying to finish out strong. They want to show we're a good team."

Ryan Hart got Delone started with a 36-yard touchdown run in the first quarter as the Squires jumped out to a 27-0 lead at the half. Defensively, Delone prevented Spartans quarterback Josiah Smallwood from getting into a rhythm as York County Tech gained just three first downs all game.

"They have nice athletes," Zortman said. "That quarterback is a tough kid and throws a great ball. For our kids to keep him in check is a testament to them."
