York Catholic clinches share of division title

The York Catholic football team clinched at least a share of YAIAA Division III with a 42-7 win over Fairfield on Friday night.

The game was played at Fairfield.

The Irish are now 8-1 overall and 6-0 in YAIAA Division III play.

York Catholic clinched a share of the division title and can clinch an outright championship next weekend with a win against York County Tech. It's the Irish's first division championship — share or outright — since 1992, according to head coach Eric Depew.

The Irish took a 21-0 lead at halftime and that lead grew to 35-0 in the second half.

Running back Jakkar Kinard ran for over 200 yards for the Irish.

Fairfield is now 4-5 overall and 1-5 in division play. The Green Knights wrap up their regular season schedule next weekend at Littlestown.
