Last-minute score puts Northern York in control

Curtis Robison's 5-yard scoring run with 56 second remaining was the difference for Northern York, as the Polar Bears beat Mechanicsburg 27-21 Friday night in Mechanicsburg.

Northern York took a 20-6 lead at halftime. Aiden Alves booted home two field goals, Robison had an 11-yard scoring scamper and Dylan Baxter returned an interception 35 yards to supply the Polar Bears' first-half scoring.

But Mechanicsburg answered with scoring passes of 52 yards and 71 yards in the third quarter to take a one-point lead.

Robison's final score capped a drive that started at around the Mechanicsburg 40-yard line, according to Northern York head coach Bill Miller.

The Polar Bears had strong rushing performances from Robison (10 carries, 91 yards, two touchdowns), Kyle Swartz (20 carries, 83 yards) and Steve Yurchison (10 carries, 67 yards).

Northern York is now 2-1 on the season and will host Big Spring next weekend.
