Emig, Gurreri lead Red Lion past Daniel Boone


Red Lion moved to 2-0 on the season after beating Daniel Boone, 42-7, on the road Friday night.

The Lions made quick work of the Blazers after the long drive to Berks County. Dylan Gurreri and Taylor Uberti scored first-quarter touchdowns to jump start Red Lion, which built a 35-0 lead by halftime.

Lions quarterback Sam Emig continued his strong start to the season by throwing the touchdown pass to Uberti and running in another score in the second quarter. He finished with 58 rushing yards and 61 passing yards..

Gurreri broke through the 100-yard mark, rushing for 103 on 13 carries. Red Lion ran for 240 yards as a team.

Defensively, the Lions held the Blazers to just five first downs and did not allow a score until the fourth quarter.

Red Lion has now outscored its opponents, 73-21, so far this season. The Lions host Chambersburg next week.
