If last week’s game against James Buchanan was a warmup for Hanover running back Logan Brown, Friday night’s victory against Kennard-Dale was his break-through performance.

Brown rushed for 110 yards on 13 carries, scoring three times to lead the Nighthawks past the Rams, 58-0, in Fawn Grove.

Brown, a sophomore running back, scored all three of his touchdowns in the first half.

Hanover head coach Bill Reichart was proud of the young tailback but said there’s plenty of room to grow.

“The next step for him is to get a bit more physical,” Reichart said.

Hanover also capitalized on three passing touchdowns from quarterback Cam Mumma and a stellar defense that limited Kennard-Dale to 29 total yards.

“That was impressive,” Reichart said of his defense. “We talked at halftime about what was important to us … I challenged anyone who is on the field defensively to preserve that. That’s a really big thing for a defense … to see them get that recognition.”

Reichart said that the young Nighthawks are a bit of an unknown quantity.

“I don’t know what our potential is yet,” he said. “I know we have some. This year, I’m still being pleasantly surprised with the improvements we’re making.”

With more than 300 rushing yards in the victory and a lockdown defense, the Nighthawks might not be a unknown for long.
