Big Spring piles up yards on the ground vs. Red Land

Big Spring ran the ball 45 times for 270 yards, and the Bulldogs earned a 21-7 victory against Red Land at home Friday.

Ryan Adams and Tristan Robb led the Bulldogs ground game, each carrying the ball 14 times. Adams totaled 90 yards and a touchdown, and Robb piled up 109 yards.

Adams' score to give Big Spring a 7-0 lead came with 3:52 left in the opening quarter. That lead doubled at 7:47 of the second quarter when Jaret Petty connected with Garrett Chestnut for a 16-yard pitch and catch.

The Patriots (2-5 overall, 0-3 in the Mid Penn Keystone) kept the contest close. Jake Radic hit Hunter Briner from 27 yards out with 1:28 before the half to cut the score to 14-7 at the break.

Radic finished the contest 14-of-40 through the air for 157 yards as the Patriots continued to play catchup in the second half, especially after the Bulldogs (4-3, 1-2 Mid Penn Colonial) pushed the lead back to 14 with 2:26 left in the third on Ethan Lee's 1-yard rush.

The Patriots finished with 259 yards of total offense, just 102 on the ground in 28 carries. Justin Johnson led the way with 89 of those yards on 24 carries. Briner picked up seven catches for 62 yards through the air.
