Red Lion football will take time to honor the two former players, Stone Hill and Nick Mankin, who died in a car accident June 16.
Both players were expected to play for Red Lion this season.
The Lions will travel to play at Hershey High School at 7 p.m. Friday. When the Lions play their first game — a 7 p.m. start Sept. 11 against Manheim Township — players and fans will be asked to observe a moment of silence. Players will also wear helmet decals, honoring their two former classmates and teammates.
"What we'll do is the players will be getting stickers for their helmets," Red Lion coach Jesse Shay said. "No. 46 for Stone and No. 60 for Nick. They'll wear those on their helmets all year long."
Red Lion players and coaches went through some of their final practices before the season opener Wednesday, with a focus on Hershey.
"They've responded more resiliently than I would have imagined," Shay said about his players.
