Gettysburg duo reaches District 3 doubles semis

Gettysburg's Adam Yingling and Zach Kiick advanced to the District 3 Class AA doubles semifinals with a pair of straight-set wins Friday at Hershey Racquet Club.

The fourth-seeded Yingling and Kiick beat Annville-Cleona's Santi Paris and Julian DyReyes-Kapp, 7-5, 6-4, in the first round. In the quarterfinals, they beat Harrisburg's Quin Buchelt and Nate Parent 6-2, 7-5.

Yingling and Kiick will take on top-seeded George Markley and Drew Kopan of Lancaster Country Day in Saturday's semifinal at 1 p.m. for a shot at the title match.

The other semifinal features the second- and third-seeded teams. The semifinal losers will play Saturday for the last PIAA qualifying spot from District 3.

The Gettysburg team was the only YAIAA team to advance out of the Class AA first round.

Two Class AAA teams from the YAIAA advanced to the quarterfinals before they were eliminated.

Central York's Chris Maderitz and Connor Bacha won their first-round match, 6-3, 6-3, before falling to the top-seeded Hershey team of Dante Falcucci and Jacob Jastrzebski, 6-1, 6-0.

And New Oxford's Joey Stiles and Josiah Forry won their opener, 6-4, 6-1. They pushed No. 3 seed Nick Tull and Jackson Muraika of Cedar Crest to a first-set tiebreaker but ultimately lost, 7-6 (6), 6-0.
