Friday's boys' tennis roundup: South Western beats Central to win Division I title outright


Here are Friday's York/Adams boys' tennis results. Check back often for updates.

SOUTH WESTERN 4, CENTRAL YORK 3 >> The Mustangs won four singles matches to clinch the YAIAA Division I title outright.

Gavin Kenny, Ben Sentz, Joe Harrison and Ben Harrison won the first four singles matches in straight sets to seal the Mustangs' title and an unbeaten division record.

It's the second straight division championship for the Mustangs and their fourth in five years.

Central York's Corey Caskey won a first-set tiebreaker before sweeping Shane O'Reilly. The Panthers swept the doubles matches.

Singles — Gavin Kenny, SW, def. Chris Maderitz, 6-3, 6-1. Ben Sentz, SW, def. Jeremy Garling, 6-1, 6-4. Joe Harrison, SW, def. Connor Bacha, 6-1, 6-0. Ben Harrison, SW, def. Austin Pokopec, 6-2, 6-4. Corey Caskey, CY, def. Shane O'Reilly, 7-6 (6), 6-3.

Doubles — Maderitz-Garling, CY, def. Kenny-Sentz, 8-6. Bacha-Pokopec, CY, def. Harrison-Harrison, 8-5.

NEW OXFORD 5, RED LION 2 >> Joey Stiles and Mathew Conrad won their No. 1 doubles match in three sets to clinch the match victory for the Colonials. Stiles and Conrad beat Sam Innerst and Alec Shue, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3, after New Oxford took three singles matches.

Doubles — Stiles-Conrad, NO, def. Innerst-Shue 6-4, 3-6, 6-3, Gruver-Forry, NO, def. Ohme-Reichard 6-0, 6-0.

DALLASTOWN INVITATIONAL >> Tyler Lilie and Hunter Jones each won both of their matches on the day to lead the host Wildcats to a second-place finish.

Dallastown took down Cumberland Valley in the opening matchup, 4-1. Lilie took on Matt Knox, splitting the first two sets before Lilie earned a 10-8 win in the third. Jones swept Ben Uras, 6-4, 6-1.

In the championship match, Dallastown came up just short in doubles play as Altoona took both matches and the 3-2 win.

In Lilie's second matchup, he beat Jake Colledge in two sets, 6-3, 6-2. Jones also earned a two-set win as he downed Kyle Good, 6-4, 6-1.

Altoona 3, Dallastown 2

Singles — Chad Allender, At, def. Schmitt, 5-7, 6-2, 12-10. Lilie, Dt, def. Jake Colledge, 6-3, 6-2. Jones, Dt, def. Kyle Good, 6-4, 6-1.

Doubles — Ryan Good-John Keating, At, def. Venkatesh-Trimmer, 6-1, 6-4. Nate Scheinburg-Same House, At, def. Swartz-El-Maghrabi, 6-3, 6-4.

SUSQUEHANNOCK 4, LITTLESTOWN 3 >> Devin Glispy and John Yancheski teamed for a crucial win in the No. 2 doubles match to help the Warriors edge the Thunderbolts on the road.

The duo's two set win, 6-1, 6-2, sealed the win for Susquehannock, which took a 3-2 lead through singles play. Yancheski added a point in singles when battled to win a second-set tiebreaker.

YORK CATHOLIC 5, BERMUDIAN SPRINGS 2 >> The Fighting Irish dropped two singles matches but swept doubles play to beat the Eagles. Isaac Higgins and Jacob Kondrasauk outslugged Bailey Hoak and Tate Myers 14-12 in a first-set tiebreaker.
