District 3 boys' lacrosse: Central York falls at Manheim Township

The Central York boys' lacrosse team lost to Manheim Township, 13-7, in the semifinals of the District 3 Class 3A tournament on Tuesday night at Penn Manor High School.

The Panthers, seeded No. 3 in the tournament bracket, will play No. 4 Cumberland Valley in the third-place game at 7 p.m. Thursday at Lower Dauphin Middle School. The two teams met earlier this season, with Cumberland Valley winning 10-6 on April 28 at Central York High School.

Time and location of Thursday's rematch is yet to be determined.

No. 2 Manheim Township will play No. 1 Wilson in the district title game Thursday at 5 p.m. at Hersheypark Stadium. 

 

According to Central York head coach Tom Mayne, the turning point of the game came during an illegal stick penalty call in the second quarter. Manheim Township scored three goals during the three minute locked penalty, and took an 8-2 lead into halftime.

Ryan Kilgour led Central York with three goals while Connor Hoch added two in Tuesday's defeat.

Irish beat Trojans in consolation round

The York Catholic boys' lacrosse team used a second-half surge to down York Suburban in the District 3 Class 2A consolation round Tuesday.

With the 16-11 win, No. 2 York Catholic will now face No. 4 Trinity in the fifth-place game at 7 p.m. Thursday at Cumberland Valley's Eagle View Middle School. The winner of that game will secure the final spot in the state tournament.

Dimitri Amalfitano scored five goals for the Irish while Eli Doyle added four. Matthew Cassidy had three goals and three assists while Chandler Hake fired home three goals of his own.

Dominic Corto had three goals and three assists for York Suburban. Riley Purcell added three goals for the Trojans.

York Catholic used a 7-2 scoring surge in the third quarter to blow things open en route to the victory.
