Basketball tourney gives back to Special Olympics
York Catholic pulled away from Bethlehem Catholic in the final four minutes to earn a 60-54 victory Thursday, Dec. 29, 2016 at the 28th annual Robert H. Griffith Holiday Classic.
In its first year as a sponsor for the Robert H. Griffith Holiday Classic, CGA Law Firm estimated it raised about $7,000 for York County Special Olympics, according to tournament director Charles Calkins.
Calkins has worked at every Holiday Classic during its 28-year run, missing just one game during its history.
The tournament, which featured the boys' basketball teams from Danville, Bethlehem Catholic, York Catholic and York Suburban, concluded its two-day run Thursday with York Catholic winning the championship game against Bethlehem Catholic.
