York County sends 3 to all-state boys' team

Three YAIAA boys’ basketball players have been recognized for their strong 2015-16 seasons on this year’s all-state team.

Spring Grove’s Eli Brooks earned a second team nod in Class AAAA, Central York’s Jared Wagner was named to the Class AAAA third team, and York Country Day's DeAireus Brown was named to the second team in Class A. All three players are coming off seasons that saw their teams make deep postseason runs.

Brooks averaged a league-high 25 points, while leading the Rockets to their first YAIAA title since 1971 and the school’s first state tournament appearance. Wagner, a York College commit, helped get his team to a district championship appearance and a state playoff berth.

Brown, who transferred to York Country Day from Northeastern, put up 21.9 points per game and led York Country Day to its first district championship in the program’s history.

Both Brooks and Wagner were named GameTimePA first team all-stars. The all-state team is voted on by sports writers across Pennsylvania.
