Roundup: Central escapes, snags title share


Onterio Edmonds scored 11 points, including five in the fourth quarter, to help Central York escape Dallastown with a 52-49 victory in Wednesday's YAIAA Division I boys' basketball action.

With the win, the Panthers clinched at least a share of the Division I title.

Edmonds scored five of the Panthers' nine fourth-quarter points as Central remained unbeaten in the division, improving to 10-0, 15-2 overall.

Nathan Markey paced Central with 19 points, 13 of those coming in the first half. Jared Wagner also added 14 points, with 12 of those coming in the second and third quarters.

Dallastown received a team-high 13 points from Aaron Ward, who sank a 3-pointer in each quarter.

Susquehannock 44, York Suburban 43: Josh Stoneberg canned four 3-pointers on his way to 15 points as the Warriors edged the Trojans on the road. Suburban trailed by five entering the fourth quarter, but the rally fell short.

Biglerville 73, Littlestown 58: The Canners sped to an 18-point halftime lead and cruised to the home win.

Noah Ayers led the way with 26 points. Of his total, 19 points came in the first half and 18 came via the 3-pointer. Cody Shaffer added 18 points, Dalton Cox had 13 and Nick Bell had 11.

Littlestown's Brady Topper scored 17 points and Avery Eyler added 14.

The teams combined for 21 3-pointers in the long-distance display.

William Penn 80, New Oxford 68: Trey Shifflett scored 23 points to lead a group of five Bearcats in double figures as they downed the Colonials.

Four of the five Bearcat starters reached double-figures. Jacquez Casiano and Kristopher Johnson each scored 14, while Montrel Morgan added 13. Elliott Wilson added 12 off the bench.

The Colonials received another big performance from Devon Duvall, who scored a team-high 23 points. Jordan Brown added 14 and Ben Lehman added 13.
