Basketball roundup: Red Lion outlasts South Western

Red Lion 50, South Western 45 (OT): In a back and forth game, the Lions outscored the Mustangs 9-4 in overtime to pull out the victory.

The Lions drained 7-of-12 free throws during the extra session to pull out the victory. Kendrick Boyd-Gillespie led the Lions with 14 points in the victory. Mustang Dhane Schmelyun led all scorers with 16, half of those coming in the fourth quarter and overtime as his team trailed 26-21 after three quarters.

Hanover 57, York Country Tech 44: Hanover used a fourth-quarter rally to beat York County Tech.

Leading by only three after the third, the Nighthawks scored on their first two possessions of the fourth before getting six clutch points from senior Will McQueen down the stretch to close out the Spartans.

Kyle Krout led the Nighthawks with 19 points, while McQueen chipped in with 14. Ty Brown led York County Tech with 16.

Red Lion Christian 83, Blue Mountain Christian 39: The Swordsmen were well rounded offensively with four players hitting double digits: Tate Pendell (19), Robert Englestad (17), John Keenan (16) and Zach Fahs (12). Pendell added 10 assists, and Englestad added 12 rebounds.

Blue Mountain Christian’s Sabastian Fisher led all scorers with 31 points.

Eastern York 61, York Suburban 31: The Golden Knights’ Jared Achterberg and Broguen Nicholas dominated in the road win.
