Roundup: Central York holds off Cedar Crest

Carrying a 15-point lead into the fourth quarter, Central York's boys' basketball team weathered a storm from Evan Horn and Cedar Crest.

The Panthers escaped the Falcons with a 75-69 victory Saturday night and kept their record unblemished (9-0, 6-0).

The Panthers came out of the gates hot, shooting 13-of -27 from the field and 7-of-12 from behind the arc in the first half to take a 43-31 lead into the locker room.

Central York maintained its 12-point lead as the third quarter expired but converted on 4-of-4 free throws before the start of the fourth after the Cedar Crest bench was tagged with two technical fouls.

In the final eight minutes, the Falcons' full-court press began to generate turnovers and and points as the Panthers' lead began to dissolve. Cedar Crest's Evan Horn scored 13 of his game-high 35 points in the fourth quarter and brought the Falcons to within one in the final minute.

The Panthers took a 72-69 lead thanks to a pair of free throws from Jared Wagner, and all the pressure was back on the Falcons.

With 23 seconds remaining, Horn attempted a game-typing 3-pointer, but it hit off the back of the rim, and Central York's Nathan Markey delivered the decisive blow with a transition layup to make the score 74-69 with 17.2 seconds left.

Markey led the Panthers with 23 points.
