Boys' basketball roundup: Northeastern hits 100


Northeastern 101, Susquehannock 76: Donovian Maxfield scored a game-high 27 points, 19 in the second half as the Bobcats topped 100 points and drained 15 3-pointers in their YAIAA Division II opener against the Warriors.

The Bobcats jumped out to a 60-35 halftime lead, thanks to a 34-19 second quarter run where Antonio Rizzuto poured in 11 of his 17 points and the Bobcats drained six 3-pointers.

The Warriors received a team-high 14 points from Josh Stoneberg and 10 each from Nick Tannura and Jordan McMillion as 11 different Warriors scored.

On top of Maxfield and Rizzuto, the Bobcats received 20 points from Kobi Nwandu — 12 of those points coming on 3-pointers — 13 from Jeff Reynolds and 11 on Fred Mullbah.

Donovan Catchings led the Wildcats with 14 points as they nearly blew a 39-37 fourth quarter lead before coming from behind.

Wyatt Tyson and Gary Hunt each scored 14 in the loss for the Lions.

The Eagles trailed 38-31 entering the fourth, but outscored the hosts 18-11 down the stretch to force overtime.

Davis finished with a team-high 18 points, 14 of those coming in the second half and overtime while teammate Najah Fink added 17.

The Knights were led by Broguen Nicholas’ game-high 23 points and Jared Achterberg’s 16 points.
