York Country Day came out victorious Friday in the Greyhounds' District 3 Class 1A boys' basketball quarterfinals game against High Point by a final score of 65-40.

The contest was played at York County Tech.

The Greyhounds, who won the District 3 Class 1A title last year, will now move on the face Mount Calvary on Monday at 8 p.m. in a district semifinals game at Middletown High School. York Country Day is seeded No. 1 in the tournament bracket, while Mount Calvary is seeded No. 4.

"Our kids are comfortable," said Greyhounds coach Chris Charleston. "I keep telling them, climb the ladder one rung at a time."

Charleston said Jordan Ray and De'Aireus Brown got out in transition and played well for the Greyhounds while the team also received a strong defensive effort across the board.

In other District 3 action Friday, the No. 3-seed New Oxford girls suffered an upset defeat in the Class 5A bracket, falling to Twin Valley 54-46. The Colonials will now play Dover in the consolation bracket at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Hershey High. The Colonials are also a state qualifier despite Friday's loss.

In Class 4A, the sixth-seeded York Suburban girls' state hopes are still alive despite a 42-39 loss to No. 3 Bishop McDevitt in Friday's quarterfinal. The Trojans will take on Wyomissing at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hershey High School.

And in Class 1A, the Christian School of York girls' basketball team fell into the consolation bracket where they'll vie for one of the last two state tournament berths. The No. 5 Crusaders lost to No. 4 Lebanon Catholic, 58-35. They'l take on Lancaster Country Day at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Central Dauphin East. The winner earns a spot in states.
