Today's best: Northeastern, York Country Day win openers

The Northeastern boys' basketball team advanced to the championship of East Pennsboro's holiday tournament with a 59-48 win against Greencastle-Antrim on Tuesday.

Four Bobcats scored in double digits: Antonio Rizzuto (17 points), Brandon Coleman (15), Austin Green (14) and Fred Mulbah (10). Northeastern took a 30-15 lead at halftime and cruised.

The Bobcats will take on host East Pennsboro, a 52-49 winner against Donegal. The title game is set for 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

York Country Day also reached a tournament final in convincing fashion, earning a 50-point win against West Shore Christian, 84-34, in Antietam's holiday tournament.

Meanwhile in Lancaster County, Eli Brooks moved within three points of Spring Grove's career scoring record, but the Rockets fell to Lancaster Catholic, 45-43. The Rockets had two chances in the final seconds of the game but couldn't find the net. They'll take on Warwick at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the three-team tourney.

On the girls' side, New Oxford kept up its hot streak with a 67-23 rout of tournament host Lebanon to reach Wednesday's title game against Northern Lebanon.
