Friday's best: Myers leads Eastern York in win
Hannah Myers scored a game-high 23 points to lead Eastern York to a 49-44 comeback victory against Susquehannock on Friday night at Eastern York High School.
The game featured the top two teams in YAIAA Division II.
Susquehannock (3-1, 1-1) sped to a double-digit lead in the first half, using a zone press to frustrate the Knights (4-0, 2-0). Once the Knights adjusted to the press, Eastern managed to pull within one point at halftime. Myers, who took over as the starting point guard this season, broke out with 10 points in Eastern's pivotal third quarter, when the Knights outscored the Warriors, 17-11.
Susquehannock pulled close in the fourth quarter. Jaden Walker scored a team-high 18 points and Tyler Williams added 11 points.
Central girls take charge: In a rematch of last season's league championship game, Central York senior Emma Saxton dropped a game-high 25 points against the Lions, scoring 17 points in the third quarter. Central pulled away with a 21-0 third quarter.
Bearcats pull out victory: William Penn trailed Spring Grove by 13 points entering the fourth quarter. That's when senior Madey-Zania Redman took over.
Redman scored 15 of her game-high 38 points in the final frame, leading the Bearcats to a 69-68 comeback victory against the Rockets.
Boys' basketball
Rams edge Eagles: Kennard-Dale's Adam Freese and Dover's Brady Bowman shared game-high honors, with each scoring 20 points in the Rams' 64-61 victory. Kennard-Dale earned the win with a 28-point fourth quarter.
Dover's Keith Davis and Kennard-Dale's Donnell Williams each scored 16 points.
New Oxford uses balanced attack: Four Colonials scored in double figures to help New Oxford top South Western, 67-52. Jaren Rex led the way with a team-high 15 points.
Central boys keep rolling: The Panthers' Landyn Ray scored a game-high 22 points in the Panthers' 69-37 victory against Red Lion.
