District 3 baseball: West York and Biglerville advance

Two YAIAA teams and Christian School of York advanced in the opening rounds of the District 3 baseball tournament on Monday.

No. 10 West York advanced in Class 4A with a 5-0 win at Elco. Biglerville, the No. 5 seed, advanced to the Class 3A semifinals with a 6-4 win at No. 4 Susquenita and No. 3 Christian School of York won 2-0 at home against No. 6 seed Conestoga Christian in the Class 1A quarterfinals.

The Bulldogs will travel to face YAIAA foe and No. 2 seed Susquehannock on Thursday. Biglerville will face top-seed Oley Valley on Thursday at a site and time to be determined, while Christian School of York will meet No. 2 seed Millersburg on Thursday at an undetermined site and time.

Three YAIAA squads saw their season come to an end on Monday as Red Lion, Gettysburg and York Catholic each lost after only scoring one run apiece.

Red Lion, the No. 9 seed, lost 7-1 to No. 8 seed Central Dauphin in Class 6A, while York Catholic, the No. 2 seed lost to No. 3 Kutztown, 3-1 in a Class 2A semifinal. 

No. 14 seed Gettysburg lost to No. 3 seed Cedar Cliff, 2-1 in 10 innings despite being the first team to score a run in the 10th inning.

Dallastown (6A), Susquehannock (4A) and Kennard-Dale (4A) each received byes in their bracket.
