GETTYSBURG — Kennard-Dale scored five times over the final two innings Tuesday to hand Gettysburg its first loss of the YAIAA baseball season.
Kennard-Dale (7-2) rallied and won, 8-5, thanks to Ben Lowe's clutch two-run double to the gap in left-center, which scored the tying runs late. A Gettysburg error then moved Lowe to third base and Ben Stewart brought home the winning run with a sacrifice fly.
Earlier, Gettysburg (8-1) had completed its own rally from a 3-0 deficit, taking the lead in the fifth when Kyle Redding plated a pair of runs with a single to center field.
"We've played with fire all year and it got us today," Gettysburg coach Ryan Brady said. "I'm proud of the way we fought back, but it feels like I keep having to remind the guys that we need to have better starts to games."
Stewart worked six innings to earn his fourth win of the season as he allowed four earned runs and eight hits with two strikeouts and a walk.
"I got a lot of ground balls with my fastball early on today," Stewart said. "They have a very tough lineup and they started to hit me a little bit in the fourth. I had to rely more on my curve ball after that."
Joey Thomas led the Rams' offense with three hits, while Ryan Goff and Matt Moscynski had two each.
Michael Tempel and David Buxton each had two hits for Gettysburg.
