D-3 roundup: Brooks is back to jumpstart Rockets
District 3 Tournament
Class AAA, Quarterfinals
(13) Spring Grove 7, (4) West Perry 0: Matt Brooks threw a complete game one-hit shutout, lifting Spring Grove to an upset victory over West Perry in the first round of the District 3 Class AAA tournament.
The only hit surrendered by Brooks in the victory was a two-out single in the bottom of the sixth inning with the Rockets leading 3-0. He responded by striking out the next batter he faced.
The Rockets offense picked up their returning starter with a four-run top of the seventh.
Spring Grove will meet the winner of tomorrow’s Palmyra-West York game in Thursday’s quarterfinal.
Class A, Quarterfinals
(6) Conestoga Christian 4, (3) Christian School of York 3 (F/8): The Greyhounds saw their season come to an end with an eight-inning loss to Conestoga Christian in the quarterfinals of the District 3 Class A tournament.
Ben Bills led CSY by going 4-for-4 with a triple, RBI and run scored while teammate Anthony Torreullas went 3-for-3 with a run scored. Matt Taylor was intentionally walked five times to limit his offensive production.
The Greyhounds left 12 runners on base. Christian School of York finished the season 10-3.
