Thursday's baseball roundup: Northeastern rallies to walk off with win vs. Dover


Dover's Austin Jewitt hit a grand slam in the second inning, but Northeastern had the last laugh, rallying for a 9-8 walk-off win in Thursday's YAIAA baseball action.

Jewitt's slam helped stake Dover to a 6-0 lead, but Northeastern answered with five runs in the bottom of the frame.

Trae Beyer paced the Bobcat offense going 3-for-4 with three RBIs, while Nick Sprenkle chipped in with three RBIs and a pair of runs.

Steven Stoy went 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI for the Eagles.

EASTERN YORK 12, GETTYSBURG 11 (8) >> The first inning ended in a 5-5 tie, and the slugfest continued into extra innings, with the Golden Knights eking out the win.

Eastern York plated two in the top of the eighth, just enough to take the one-run win after Gettysburg only managed one run in the bottom of the frame.

Each team went through three pitchers. The Golden Knights struck out 12, while the Warriors struck out seven.

Eastern racked up 14 hits, including doubles by Colby Shimmel, Wyatt Smith and Brandyn Fry, which were the only extra-base hits of the day.
