Delone Catholic head coach Corey Zortman discusses his team's season after beating Hanover, 31-14, Friday night. Matt Allibone
Pat Flaherty grew up learning the quirky, behind-the-scenes life of an offensive lineman - from playing center at Delone Catholic and East Stroudsburg University to coaching linemen for most of his NFL career.
So he's excited to give back again by headlining Saturday's Third Annual Mason Dixon Linemen Clinic at Delone. Flaherty is now the offensive line coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars.
"Just to remind these guys how important they are and how important their technique and the safety of the game are," Flaherty said. "You have to coach safety and get players to understand the importance of it."
Flaherty will be assisted by Baltimore Raven and former Nittany Lion lineman John Urschel and East Stroudsburg University coach Mike Santella.
The clinic will be from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. (registration at 8) at Delone's JT Flaherty Field. The featured speaker will be U.S. Marine Major David Borden, a Delone graduate.
The clinic is open for those entering grades 7-12 and features personal instruction led by Flaherty, who won two Super Bowl rings with the New York Giants and another title with the Penn State Nittany Lions. Cost is $50 per player and walk-ins are welcome.
