District roundup: Dallastown softball rolls to semis


Dallastown's Jaelynn Harbold pitched a five-hit shutout to lead the Wildcats into the District 3 Class AAAA semifinals on Thursday. Dallastown earned a 6-0 win against Wilson at Millersville University.

Harbold struck out five batters and issued just one walk as the No. 7 Wildcats rolled past the No. 15 Bulldogs. Harbold and Melanie Grant each cracked a double from the plate, and Grant was one of four Dallastown players to record multiple hits on the day. Joining her were Danielle Ludwig, Kayla Flemmens and Krista Flemmens.

Dallastown advances to Tuesday's semifinal against Penn Manor, which was a 1-0 winner against Solanco on Thursday. The semifinal will be at a site and time to be determined.

Softball 

Class AAA quarterfinals

Lampeter-Strasburg 6, Littlestown 0: Jordan Weaver struck out 15 Thunderbolt batters on the way to a one-hit shutout, sending the top-seeded Pioneers into the district semifinals. The Thunderbolts gave up all six runs in the first two innings to see their season end with a 17-5 record. Jordyn Kondras led the Lampeter-Strasburg offense with a double and a home run.

Third-place game

Manheim Township 15, York Catholic 9: The Blue Streaks shut down the Fighting Irish in the second half to claim the last spot in the PIAA tournament. York Catholic stuck around in the first half, trailing by an 8-7 margin at halftime, but Township held the Fighting Irish to two goals in the second half to pull away.

Lisa Casagrande netted a hat trick for the Irish, who finish their season with a record of 19-3.

Baseball

Lancaster Catholic 8, Biglerville 0: The second-seeded Crusaders used a six-run fifth inning to end the Canners' season in the district quarterfinals. Biglerville ends its season with a record of 13-8.

Oley Valley 12, Fairfield 1 (5): The Green Knights' historic season ended in a quarterfinal thumping by top-seeded Oley Valley. Tuesday's preliminary round win against York Catholic marked Fairfield's first district playoff victory in program history. The Knights finish their season with an 11-8 record.
