YAIAA top performers: May 6


Mother Nature tried her best to shut down Friday's top performers list, postponing 16 games Friday afternoon and three games on Saturday.

But a few teams toughed it out through the rain, landing a few athletes on the latest installment of our YAIAA highlights.

Red Lion's Sam Emig scored seven goals and added two assists as the Lions came from behind to beat Trinity at home, 14-12. Red Lion enters the YAIAA tournament next week as the No. 1 seed.

Here are the rest of the top performers from around the YAIAA:

Boys' track & field

York Suburban's Phillip Marshall took first in the 100 and long jump, one of two YAIAA athletes to win a pair of events at Eastern York's Battle for the Bridge Invitational. Kennard-Dale's Chris Moore also won twice, sweeping the 110 and 300 hurdles. Eastern York's distance duo of Mason Bair and Brandon Dailey each won an individual event while anchoring the victorious 3,200 relay team. Bair won the 800 while Dailey took first in the 3200. Rounding out YAIAA winners was York Suburban's Bryce Ohl, who won the 1,600.

Boys' lacrosse

Spring Grove's Tanner Bolton and Zeb Hollinger each scored five goals to lead the Rockets to the 19-6 win at home against New Oxford. Hollinger also dished out two assists, while Bolton had one. New Oxford's Alex Clabaugh had four goals and one assist in the loss ...Dominick Particelli scored five goals and added two assists in Eastern York's 10-3 win against Warwick. Kevin Royce stopped 14 shots in the win.

Girls' track & field

York Suburban's Morgan Taylor took first place in the discus and shot put at the Eastern York Battle for the Bridge Invitational. She was one of five YAIAA athletes to win events. Suburban teammate Madison James won the high jump. For host Eastern York, Hannah Myers won the 400 and ran on the winning 1,600 relay team. Teammate Maura DeReamer took first in the javelin, while Madison Nalls won the 800.
