YAIAA top performers, April 30


Susquehannock's Rachel Marshner proved to be the difference in Saturday's 15-8 lacrosse victory against Central Dauphin.

Marshner scored eight goals and made an assist to provide the winning margin. Teammate Emma Stiffler dished out six assists.

Here is a look at Saturday's other top YAIAA performers: 

Girls' lacrosse

Eastern York's Chelsea Forsythe scored four goals as the Golden Knights pounded Mechanicsburg, 18-1. Eastern's Rylie Toomey and Bri Pfieffer each added a hat trick and an assist. ... Central York's Addy Billings registered six goals and Alexa Glatfelter added five in the Panthers' 15-5 win against Northern York.

Softball

Spring Grove struggled at the Muhlenberg tournament with losses to Big Spring (11-10) and the host Muhls (7-6). But the Rockets beat South Western, 15-14, in the seventh-place game. Julia Wivell carried the Rockets' offense and finished the tournament with two home runs, six RBIs and five runs scored.

Baseball

Eastern York's Brandon Knarr struck out 16 Wyomissing batters, but the Golden Knights fell, 10-4.

Outside the YAIAA

Christian School of York's Ben Bills went 2-for-2 with a three-run home run, a double and two walks. He crossed the plate twice and had four RBIs.
