YAIAA top performers: April 29


With the score tied at seven in the top of the seventh on Friday, Eastern York's Brandon Knarr belted a two-run double to lead the Golden Knights to a key win against streaking Gettysburg.

The win moves Eastern into sole possession of first place while halting the Warriors' win streak at eight games.

Here are the rest of the top performers from Friday's events.

Girls' track & field

Gettysburg's Hannah Baddick won the triple jump with a leap of 35-10 1/4 at the Millersville Invitational. Baddick's leap was nearly a foot better than the runner-up in the 28-person field. ... At the same event, Red Lion's Madisen Kling won the discus with a toss of 122-6, four feet ahead of second place.

Boys' tennis

In the YAIAA singles tournament, No. 1 seeds Holden Koons (Dallastown, Class AAA) and Michael Andrews (York Catholic, Class AA) advanced through the first two rounds without dropping a game. ... A pair of unseeded players also pulled off upset wins to advance to the quarterfinals. Dallastown's Sachin Venkatesh knocked off No. 6 seed Alec Shue of Red Lion in the first round, 6-2, 7-5 before beating his Wildcats teammate Jonathan Burns, 7-5, 6-4. In Classs AA, Littlestown's Noah DeCampo beat Bermudian Springs' No. 8 seed Nick Wool, 5-7, 6-2, 10-6 in the first before beating teammate Levi Wilhide, 6-2, 6-1.

Boys' track & field

Gettysburg's Ravaughn Dillard won the high jump at the Millersville Invitational with a jump of 6-2. Dillard also won the triple jump with a leap of 44-0 1/2.
