YAIAA top performers: April 27


Central York's Courtney Coppersmith threw a three-inning perfect game in the Panthers' 15-0 win over host West York. Coppersmith struck out five from the circle in the perfect game while also going 3-for-3 with a triple and four RBIs at the plate.

It is the first perfect game in the YAIAA this season in either baseball or softball.

Littlestown's Kaitlin Yealy tossed a one-hit shutout with two strikeouts in the Thunderbolts 16-0 home win over Biglerville. Yealy also went 2-for-2 with a double, home run and five RBIs at the plate. ...Kennard-Dale's Alexis Valentine threw a three-hit shutout with eight strikeouts in Rams' 11-0 win at home against Fairfield. ...Dover's Taylor Lamparter kept the pitching theme going with 13 strikeouts of her own in the Eagles' 7-3 home victory over New Oxford.

Baseball

Eastern York's Colby Shimmel struck out eight batters in 2 2/3 innings of relief to pick up the win for the Golden Knights in their 6-5 win over York County Tech. Shimmel drove in the game-tying run on a double in bottom of the seventh then scored on Brandon Knarr's walk-off single. ...Keeping with the walk-off theme, Brady Topper smacked a walk-off single to give Littlestown a 6-5 win over Biglerville. ...Northeastern's Kody Reeser pitched a complete-game shutout in the Bobcats 2-0 win over South Western. He allowed just two hits with nine strikeouts and five walks. ...York Catholic’s Dillon Hippensteel went 4-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs for the Fighting Irish in the teams 6-2 win over Bermudian Springs.

Girls' track & field

South Western clinched its 23rd section title in last 40 years. Lynne Mooradian won three individual events to lead the way (100 hurdles, 300 hurdles and triple jump). ...Eastern York clinched a share of division title with a victory over York Suburban. Maddie McLain, Hannah Myers and Taylor Currier each won a pair of events to lead the Knights.

Boys' lacrosse

Kennard-Dale's Zack Anderson scored three goals and added a pair of assists in the Rams first win of the season, 8-2 over West Nottingham.

Boys' track & field

Jarrett Raudensky edged Nathan Lopez by .8 in the 800, scoring crucial points for York Suburban in their two-point win over Eastern York. Teammate Phillip Marshall won key races in the 100 and 200 while also winning the long jump. The Trojans victory ensured at least a share of the Division II title for Gettysburg.

Girls' lacrosse

Red Lion's Peyton Shima scored seven goals leading the Lions to a 25-14 win over Central York. Teammate Emily Robbins added five goals and three assists while Emily Harrington had four goals and three helpers. Addy Billings led the Panthers with six goals in the loss.

Non-YAIAA goodness

Christian School of York's Ben Bills pitched a complete-game shutout in the teams 5-0 win over defending state champion Lancaster County Christian. Bills had 10 strikeouts and no walks from the mound while hitting a solo shot in the first inning to improve the Crusaders record to 9-0.
