YAIAA top performers: Adams posts back-to-back gems


In back-to-back nights, Alyssa Adams led the Red Lion girls' lacrosse team to victory as the Lions took down York Suburban, 22-4, on Thursday and Conestoga Valley, 23-4, on Friday.

Adams tormented the Trojans defense with eights goals, while Peyton Shima added six. Adams followed that performance with a nine-goal, two-assist effort against the Buckskins. Her teammate Emily Robbins dished out six assists and added a hat trick in that game Friday.

Titles clinched

On Friday, the Littlestown boys' tennis team clinched a share of the YAIAA Division II title with a 7-0 win against Susquehannock. The Thunderbolts will share the crown with at leaste Gettysburg, which clinched its share of the division title Thursday. York Catholic could make it a three-way tie with a win in the Irish's final match.

Meanwhile, Dallastown's boys' tennis team clinched the Division I title with Friday's 5-2 win against Spring Grove.

Baseball

Friday: Colby Shimmel fanned 12 batters, increasing his YAIAA-high total to 65, leading Eastern York to a 6-1 win against Delone Catholic on Friday. Wyatt Smith led the Golden Knights on offense as went 3-for-3 with a run scored and two runs driven in. ... Bermudian Springs' Tyler Reinert struck out 10 Hanover batters in the 5-4 loss.

Girls' lacrosse

ThursdayKennard-Dale's Claire Gamache scored five goals and added three assists to lead the Rams to a 28-2 win against Spring Grove.

Softball

Friday: Dallastown's Delany Kolb picked up the win for from the circle with six strikeouts as the Wildcats downed Gettysburg, 8-4. Kolb did a majority of her damage to the Warriors as she crushed a grand slam. ... South Western's Kaitlyn Chell went 3-for-5 with a three-run home run and three runs scored in an 11-3 win against West York. Bailey Moses added three hits for the Mustangs with a double, a triple and two runs scored.

Boys' lacrosse

Sam Emig helped led Red Lion to back-to-back wins as he scored a hat trick and made three assists on Thursday in the Lions' 15-5 win against York Suburban. He followed that with an eight-goal outburst in Friday's 19-4 dismantling of Conestoga Valley. Red Lion's Jac Gemmill added five goals against the Trojans and had six assists and a goal against the Buckskins. ... Susquehannock's Anthony DeVincent scored four goals and added three assists in the Warriors' 17-4 win against New Oxford Thursday. He fired in five goals and made three assists Friday as the Warriors downed Wyomissing, 18-3.
