April 19 top performers: Central survives in 5


Central York's Hayden Wagner drilled 37 kills and Carter Luckenbaugh handed out 57 assists as the Panthers escaped Dallastown with a 3-2 volleyball victory on Tuesday night.

In the game of the night, the Panthers outlasted the Wildcats, 21-25, 25-13, 23-25, 25-18, 15-12.

Wagner and Luckenbaugh each posted a double-double, with Wagner making 12 digs and Luckenbaugh adding 11. Zak Kakos led Central's defense with 17 digs.

On Dallastown's side, Jake Bixler was strong in front with eight blocks, and Dylan Fry dug up 20 shots. Peyton Ranck handed out 49 assists, and Aaron Ward led the Wildcat offense with 20 kills.

Softball 

Spring Grove pitcher Julia Wivell struck out 13 Gettysburg batters in the Rockets' 5-3 victory.

Boys' lacrosse 

Susquehannock's Anthony DeVincent and Dorian Faster scored eight goals apiece in a 19-9 win against Eastern York. DeVincent also added three assists. ... Red Lion's Sam Emig and Jac Gemmill netted six goals apiece as the Lions edged York Catholic, 17-15.

Girls' lacrosse 

York Catholic's Lindsey China racked up 10 goals and three assists, and Anna Linthicum added five goals and two assists in the Fighting Irish's 22-4 win against Red Lion. ... Susquehannock's Rachel Marshner scored six goals and chipped in three assists as the Warriors cruised past Eastern York, 15-2. ... New Oxford's Braxtin Reddinger put up eight goals in the Colonials' 15-11 win against Dallastown.
