YAIAA top performers, April 12


Cassie Rickrode went 4-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs to lead Delone Catholic to a 10-0 win over Fairfield. Rickrode didn't just do damage to the Green Knights from the plate. She struck out 12 and allowed just two hits from the pitching circle.

Grand Slam Central

Three grand slams were hit Tuesday in YAIAA action, with one in baseball and two in softball.

In baseball, Kennard-Dale freshman Garrett Lowe slugged a grand slam in the Rams' 16-1 win over Dover.

In softball, Dover's Natalie Cutright went 3-for-5 with a grand slam in the Eagles' 12-9 win over Gettysburg. Bermudian Springs' Morgan Williams went 2-for-4 with a double and a grand slam in the Eagles' 17-14 win over Eastern York.

Softball

Dover's Cassandra Root aided Cutright's big effort with a 2-for-5 performance with two RBIs and two runs scored. ... Bermudian Springs' Jackie Faircloth went 2-for-4 with a triple, a home run and two RBIs a slugfest win over Eastern York. ... Hanover's Emily Hamm hit three doubles in the Hawkettes' 7-6 loss in eight innings to Biglerville. ... Central York's Rachel Butler struck out seven in the Panthers' 11-0 shutout over South Western. Central's Erin Cabry went 3-for-4 with three RBIs.

Girls' track & field

In a battle of the league's top hurdlers, South Western's Lynne Mooradian edged Dallastown's Taylor Forrester in both the 100- and 300-meter hurdles, leading the Mustangs to an 87-63 win over the Wildcats.

Boys' volleyball

In our GameTimePA.com livestream match, Red Lion's Cole Brillhart and Dillon Hildebrand combined for 41 kills as the Lions knocked off York Suburban, 27-25, 18-25, 25-22, 25-10, at home in a battle of YAIAA unbeaten teams. Brillhart ended the match with 23 kills while Hildebrand chipped in with 18 kills.

Girls' lacrosse

West York's Ally Williams scored six goals in the Bulldogs' 12-3 win over Dallastown. ... Central York's Addy Billings and Jill Czaplinski each scored five goals in the Panthers' 21-9 victory against York Suburban. ... Susquehannock received a balanced scoring effort in its 23-6 win over Spring Grove. Gena Speights recorded five goals and two assists, Maddie Ellis added five goals, Kayla Held had three goals and five assists, and Emma Shiffler registered two goals and four assists.

Baseball

Devin Chesney hit a walk-off single to lift New Oxford to a 6-5 victory against Red Lion in extra innings. ... Biglerville's Chase Long went 3-for-4 with a double, triple, four runs scored and five RBIs. Teammate Brock Chronister went 3-for-4 with a double, triple, four RBIs and four runs scored in Canners' 17-6 win against Hanover.

Boys' track & field

Bermudian Springs won the 1,600-meter relay in 3 minutes, 46.1 seconds to cinch a victory in the dual meet against Biglerville. The teams entered the final event tied, 72-72. ...Dallastown's Justin Tracy won two individual events and helped lead two relays, giving the Wildcats an 81-69 win over South Western. Tracy won the 300 hurdles and long jump and led off the 400 and 1,600 relay winning teams.

Boys' lacrosse

York Suburban's Mike Sipes scored the game-winning goal in the final seconds to lift the Trojans to a 15-14 win over Central York. Collin Mailman added six goals and three assists, while Blake Wallace stopped 19 shots to pick up the win. ... Eastern York's Evyn Witman scored five goals, leading Golden Knights to 16-11 win over Red Lion.
