6 Lebanon County wrestlers in SE regional semis
WEST LAWN - After a successful weekend at the District 3 championships for Lebanon County wrestling, wrestlers from Northern Lebanon and Annville-Cleona looked to carry that momentum into this weekend’s PIAA Class AA Southeastern Regional Tournament at Wilson High School.
The Vikings and Little Dutchmen brought in 12 wrestlers, and six remain in championship contention after day one.
For the Vikings, wrestlers who advanced to the semifinals include Trevor Leonard at 132, Quinn Blatt at 170, Luke Funck at 182, Matt Vines at 220 and George Thompson at 285.
Josh Renninger was the only representative for the Little Dutchmen in the tournament, and he remains in championship contention at 138, after getting a first round 5-0 decision over Panther Valley’s Hunter Kennedy, followed by an 11-3 decision over Catasauqua’s Ryan Greene in the quarterfinals. Renninger will face Pen Argyl’s Chase Anklam in the 138 semifinals.
Leonard earned a 9-6 decision over Notre Dame Green Pond’s Blake Daniel in the first round, then got a 13-8 decision over Saucon Valley’s Joshua Jones in the quarterfinals. Leonard will face Palisades’ Jacob Wasser in the semifinals.
After a first-round bye, Blatt pinned Mahanoy’s Nolan Fegley in 1:15. He’ll face Camp Hill’s Tita Nyambi in the semifinals. Funck posted two pins – the first in 1:11 over Saucon Valley’s Blayne Hirshbeck, and the second in 4:44 over North Schuylkill’s Brady Mickatavage. He faces Delone's Brady Repasky in the semifinals.
After a first round bye, Vines earned an 8-2 decision over Notre Dame Green Pond’s Julian Wismer. He’ll face Joseph Gladish from Allentown Central Catholic. Thompson had a 3-2 decision over North Schuylkill’s Dane Tarantelli and pinned Julian Albero of Conwell-Egan Catholic in 3:53. He’ll take on Salisbury’s Alexander Nicholas in the semifinals.
Kyler Anspach and Hunter Wallace remain alive in the consolation bracket at 106 and 195 respectively.
Day two begins Saturday at 9:30 a.m., with championship bouts beginning at approximately 5 p.m.
