Northern Lebanon wrestlers roll Pequea Valley


 The Northern Lebanon wrestling team inched one step closer to a fourth straight L-L Section Three title after a 61-16 destruction of Pequea Valley in Kinzers on Thursday night.

The victory moves Northern Lebanon to 7-1 overall, 4-0 in L-L Section Three with two matches to go including Monday’s showdown at home with Elco. Zachary Kelly (138), Hunter Wallace (195), and George Thompson (285) all picked up falls for the Vikings.

ELCO 60, Lancaster Catholic 15: In Lancaster, The Raiders received first period falls from Alex Puglio (113), Shawn Price (132) and Owen Nell (138) in their victory over the Crusaders.

Puglio’s fall came in 30 seconds while Price and Nell each picked up consecutive falls in 28 seconds. The Raiders were aided by six forfeits.

Annville-Cleona 52, Donegal 27: In Mount Joy, the Little Dutchmen received back-to-back falls by Tyler Scharder and Kole Stout at 160 and 170 pounds to come away victorious over the Indians.

Schrader picked up a fall at 5:53, beating the third period buzzer while Stout beat the second period buzzer with a fall in 3:54. Mark Wagner added a fall two bouts later at 195 to put the visitors ahead, 46-9.

McCaskey 72, Cedar Crest 9: The Falcons received a fall from Barry Breidegan and a decision from Jarell Howard-Griffin in their loss at home to the Red Tornado.

Breidegan’s victory keeps him undefeated on the season at 152 pounds as he pinned Kajamil Major in 1:46. Howard-Griffin picked up the 11-4 decision over Carlos Lugo at 182-pounds.

Lampeter-Strasburg 48, Lebanon 19: The visiting Cedars received victories from Lucas Imm (285), Jose Barrios (106), Tommy Blair (132), Ben Kutz (145) and Julian Imm (160) as they lost to the host Pioneers.

Lucas Imm picked up a 5-2 decision at 285 before Barrios picked up a forfeit victory at 106 to pull the visitors to within 24-9.

The Cedars lost the next three before closing the match with three wins in the final five bouts as Blair won 6-4 at 132 and Kutz 14-6 at 145 before Julian Imm won 7-5 in overtime at 160 pounds.
