Wrestling roundup: Annville-Cleona wins at home
Annville-Cleona won four of the first five bouts in a 43-27 victory against Pequea Valley in Thursday's Lancaster-Lebanon League Section 3 action Thursday.
The hosts jumped out to a 24-3 lead before the Braves rallied to pull within six, 24-18, ahead of the 138-pound bout. From there, Tyler Spearaw finished off a 9-7 decision and Josh Renninger pushed for a 13-4 major at 145 pounds to make it 31-18 with four matches to go. Those wins sealed the match as the Little Dutchmen were set to receive a forfeit at the final weight of the night.
Mark Wagner and Brandon Light gave the hosts a fast start with a fall and a forfeit win at 195 and 220 pounds, respectively, to make it 12-0 early. The Braves got three points back at 285 before forfeiting back-to-back bouts at 106 and 113 to make it 24-3.
At 120 pounds, Tanner Ball picked up a tech fall victory, then Gabe Miller added a major at 126. Max Styer a fall at 132 to pull to within six, 24-18, before Spearaw’s and Renninger’s wins sealed the match.
Everett Stout (170) and Brayden Turner (182) also were victorious for the Little Dutchmen.
