Silva's bronze leads Crest at L-L meet

Led by a big effort from senior Glaucio Silva, the Cedar Crest boys swim team turned in a solid sixth-place showing at the Lancaster-Lebanon League Boys Swimming Championships on Thursday night at Lititz Rec Center.

Silva highlighted the Falcons' effort by placing third in the 100-yard breast stroke while also contributing to medal-winning finishes by Cedar Crest's 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays. The Falcons totaled 33 team points, narrowly missing a top 5 finish by a single point. Hempfield captured the team crown with 148 points.

Silva clocked a time of 1:01.65 while taking bronze in the breast stroke, while teaming with Matthew Moffit, Gabriel Deiderick and AJ Loehr to grab a fifth-place finish in the 200 medley relay, and the same trio to nab fourth in the 400 free relay that closed the meet.

Also scoring points for Cedar Crest on Thursday were: Silva (8th, 200 IM), Loehr (7th, 100 butterfly), Loehr, Deiderick, Elliot Knapp and Jaxon Kelly (8th, 200 free relay),  and Moffitt (7th, !00 backstroke).

In addition, Annville-Cleona's Adam Fox posted a seventh-place finish in the 100 freestyle.

The Cedar Crest girls will be in action on Friday night when the L-L girls meet gets underway at 7 at Lititz Rec Center.
