Palmyra competes unbeaten regular season

Perfection is not easily attained in high school sports. But the Palmyra girls volleyball team managed just fine in the regular season.

The Cougars wrapped up an unbeaten 2015 campaign and an unblemished run to the Mid-Penn Colonial Division title on Thursday night with a 3-0 defeat of backyard/division arch rival Hershey on the Trojans' home court.

Now 18-0 overall after finishing their division slate at 16-0, Palmyra swept the Trojans by scores of 25-13, 25-16 and 25-18 en route to completing their perfect season.

Senior Josie Stovall led the way for the Cougars with nine kills and four digs, and Molly Gundermann (six blocks), Sam Houser (five aces) and Kirstin West (21 assists) also enjoyed big nights for head coach Clark Sheaffer's bunch.

Makayla Windsor paced Hershey(14-3, 13-3 Colonial) with eight kills, 11 digs and one ace.

Next up for Palmyra is the District Three Class AAA tourney that gets underway next weekend.
