Palmyra wraps up Keystone Division crown

It figured to be a mere formality. It was.

The Palmyra field hockey team moved to the brink of a Mid-Penn Keystone Division title with Monday's showdown win over Lower Dauphin and needed only to beat Susquehanna Township in its regular season finale on Wednesday night to sew things up.

The Cougars did so emphatically, rolling to a 10-2 win in suburban Harrisburg behind an eight-goal first-half explosion.

Kiley Gallagher's two goals and an assist led the way, and Lexi Smith and Carli Herman also scored two goals apiece as Palmyra wrapped up its division schedule at 11-1 and improved to 16-2 overall heading into Tuesday's opening of the Mid-Penn playoffs.

CEDAR CREST 1, MANHEIM TOWNSHIP 0 >> In Neffsville, the Falcons closed out the regular season with a solid win over the Blue Streaks.

Emily Peters scored the game's lone goal off an assist from Taylor Kauffman, and Kelsey Bell came up with six saves in goal to earn the shutout.

ANNVILLE-CLEONA 1, NORTHERN LEBANON 0 >> In Fredericksburg, A-C wrapped up its Section Three slate by blanking the Vikings behind Tori Malloy's first-half goal.

A-C enjoyed a dominating 18-2 shots advantage in the win, and got an assist from Michaela Singer on Malloy's goal.

Hannah Whitman kept Northern Lebanon in the game with 17 saves in goal.

ELCO 3, PEQUEA VALLEY 1 >> In Kinzers, the Raiders got a positive result in their Section Three finale thanks to a pair of Katie Fields goals.

Maddie Harnish also scored for Elco, and Abbie Keath picked up a pair of assists. Kendra Bicksler stopped 10 shots in goal to record the victory.

COCALICO 4, LEBANON 0 >> At Lebanon High, the Cedars fell in a 3-0 halftime hole and never recovered.

Lebanon was outshot 30-1 in the loss.
