Girls' tennis: Andersson, Hitz lead Lebanon County effort at Lancaster-Lebanon tourney

The finals of the Lancaster-Lebanon League tennis tournament are set for Monday afternoon at 3:45 p.m. at Conestoga Valley High School.

When they begin, Lebanon County will be well represented.

County competitors will play for championships in three different flights on Monday on the heels of strong semifinal performances on Saturday.

Leading the way will be Northern Lebanon's Maja Andersson and Annville-Cleona's Alicia Hitz, who'll meet in the Flight One Class AA singles final on Monday after straight-set semifinal victories on Saturday.

Andersson blanked Elco's Sydney Nye 6-0, 6-0 to earn her finals berth, while Hitz ousted Pequea Valley's Leanna Riehl, 6-3, 6-1 to grab her championship opportunity.

Hitz will also go for the gold in Flight One AA doubles, along with partner Emma Lerchen, after securing a semifinal forfeit win over Andersson and Kelly Shuey. They'll face Riehl and Regan Donecker, who outlasted Nye and Kelsey Stubblebine in a three-set semifinal.

In addition, Cedar Crest's Clare Aitken and Serena Cheng will represent the county in the Flight Three doubles final after defeating Ariah Bucks and Alyssa Frey from Donegal in the semis on Saturday.
