FOOTBALL: Solanco uses 42-0 run to rout Lebanon

LEBANON >> Solanco was tested early, but it didn't last very long. The Golden Mules rattled off 42 straight points en route to a 42-12 victory over Lebanon in a Section Two matchup Friday night.

After Lebanon scored on its opening drive, Solanco (3-0 Section Two, 6-0 overall) found its stride and racked up 460 yards of offense to remain undefeated on the season. Three rushers combined for nearly 300 yards rushing, while the Mules' defense held Lebanon to 97 yards on the ground.

"No matter the score, we need to execute better," Solanco head coach Tony Cox said. "We started off slow and we're not going to be able to do that against every team. However, we picked it up and had a good showing."

Malik Hunter led Lebanon (0-3 Section Two, 1-5 overall) with 89 yards rushing.

Turning point: With a 14-6 lead, Solanco's Jarett McGuire came up with an interception. Two plays later, quarterback Noah McCardell connected with William Cooney on a 70-yard play-action TD pass.

Star of the game: Douglas Hassel rushed for 133 yards on 14 carries, while scoring two touchdowns.

Key Statistic: Solanco gained 390 yards on the ground, and got 294 from its three-headed monster of Hassel (14-133, 2 TD), Prosper Eguzouwa (7-88), and Darren Whearry (9-73, 2 TD).
