SOCCER ROUNDUP: A-C girls beat Mennonite in double OT


There is a first time for everything, but for the longest time there was never an Annville-Cleona girls' soccer win over Lancaster Mennonite.

Until Tuesday night.

A-C notched its first-ever victory over longtime nemesis Mennonite Tuesday, pulling out a 1-0 double overtime triumph on Reagan Hess's goal in the 97th minute of the Section Three clash at Annville-Cleona High School.

Hess's goal came off a Jordyn Shifflet assist and lifted A-C's spirits sky-high, as well as its record to 9-4 overall and 5-4 in Section Three.

Anna Soliday picked up the shutout in goal for A-C with 13 saves.

CEDAR CREST 1, WARWICK 0 >> In South Lebanon, the Falcons ran their unbeaten streak to six straight games by blanking the Warriors behind a balanced attack.

Now 7-3-2 overall and 5-2-1 in Section One, Cedar Crest was led by goals from Carli Wasson, Ariel Jones and Sam Gerhart, and also got assists from Bridgett Finn and Cece Fiorentino in the win.

Desiree Leffler notched three saves in goal to pick up the shutout.

GARDEN SPOT 1, LEBANON 0 (2OT)>> At Lebanon High, the winless Cedars gave Garden Spot quite a fight before falling in double overtime.

Felix Kortright-Roman gave Lebanon a chance with 10 saves in goal.

CEDAR CREST 1, WARWICK 1>> In Lititz, the Falcons earned a draw and are 3-9-1 overall and 2-6-1 in Section One.

Santiago Garcia Prieto tallied the lone Cedar Crest goal off an assist from Mark Wolf in the 70th minute.

NEW COVENANT 5, COVENANT CHRISTIAN 1 >> At New Covenant, Toby Kornhaus racked up four goals to lift the Flames to the lopsided victory.

Nathan Dubble also scored for New Covenant, which enjoyed a 24-9 advantage in shots.

PALMYRA 16, HARRISBURG 2 >> At In The Net, Palmyra was all over Harrisburg while improving to 5-7-1 overall. No other details were available.
