FIELD HOCKEY: Palmyra cruises past Middletown, 7-0

The Palmyra field hockey team endured a pair of tough overtime losses last week to rivals Lower Dauphin and Penn Manor.

The Cougars were in little danger of absorbing another extra time defeat on Wednesday, scoring five times in the first half on the way to a 7-0 drubbing of Middletown in Mid-Penn Keystone Division action at In The Net.

Now 10-2 overall and 6-1 in the Keystone, Palmyra got a pair of goals from Katelyn Mark and Kiley Gallagher while outshooting Middletown 21-0.

Lexi Smith, Carli Herman (penalty stroke) and Gabby Corricelli also scored for Palmyra in the lopsided victory.

LANCASTER CATHOLIC 5, NORTHERN LEBANON 4 (OT)>> In Fredericksburg, a four-goal eruption from Carey Hetrick wasn't enough to keep the Vikings from the overtime setback.

Hetrick scored three times after intermission to help NL (3-7, 2-6 Section Three) overcome a 3-1 deficit and force the OT session.

CONESTOGA VALLEY 2, CEDAR CREST 1 (OT)>> In Witmer, the Falcons dipped below the .500 mark after falling into a 2-0 halftime hole they couldn't quite escape.

Emily Peters tallied the lone goal for Cedar Crest, now 6-7 overall and 3-6 in Section One.

BRANDYWINE HEIGHTS 3, ELCO 0 >> In Topton, the Raiders were shut out in a non-league affair and fell to 3-8-1 for the season.
