LANDISVILLE —Four straight two-out hits in the third inning propelled the Hempfield Black Knights (10-3, 10-1 Section One) to a 4-0 victory over Elizabethtown (11-4, 8-3 Section Two) in the final L-L crossover game for both teams.

Danielle Steiner singled off Elizabethtown lefthander Lauren Allison to ignite the game-changing rally. Lauren Lichtenwalner (3-for-3, 2 doubles, 2 runs) followed with a double to left center, both runners scoring on Kara Cook’s single through the left side.

Gabi Turner, who finished up the third-inning outburst with a single of her own, hit a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning to plate Lichtenwalner for a 3-0 lead.

A flawless defensive effort backed Lichtenwalner (6K, 0 BB) in the circle as the Bears stranded four baserunners in the first two innings.

Emily Brubaker’s leadoff double in the fourth inning marked the lone hit Lichtenwalner would allow in the final five frames, with Knights’ shortstop Bree Wingett throwing-out Brubaker at the plate.

Elizabethtown falls into a tie for first in Section Two, while Hempfield matches pace with Penn Manor at the top of Section One with five league games to play.
