SOFTBALL ROUNDUP: Annville-Cleona bounces back, beats Barons


The Annville-Cleona softball team bounced back from its first loss of the season on Friday to upend Manheim Central, 10-7, in Section Three-Four crossover action at A-C on Monday afternoon.

And the Little Dutchmen (7-1, 6-1 Section Four) rallied to do it, overcoming a six-run top of the fifth by the Barons with a five-run outburst of their own in the bottom half of the frame. That gave A-C an 8-7 lead and put it in front for good.

A-C banged out 11 hits, four of which went for extra bases. Winning pitcher Emma Lerchen and Morgan Zimmerman both doubled and Hannah Fischer and Amber Rexrode contributed triples to the win.

NORTHERN LEBANON 12, LANCASTER CATHOLIC 0 >> In Lancaster, the Vikings inflicted a five-inning beatdown on the Crusaders behind a 15-hit attack.

Jess Kreiser led the way for Northern Lebanon (4-3, 4-2 Section Three) by going 4-for-4 with a triple, two RBIs and four runs scored, while Nicole Ditzler and Erica Dulac added two hits and three RBIs apiece.

PEQUEA VALLEY 7, ELCO 6 >> In Kinzers, the Raiders dropped a heartbreaker when Aleesha Feister slammed a walk-off two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh.

Elco (4-4, 3-4 Section Three) had taken a 5-0 lead in the top of the fourth, but Pequea chipped away with two runs in the fourth and three in the fifth, then won it on Feister's blast in the seventh.

Claire Shaak led the Raiders with three hits, including a double, and Maddie Drescher added a triple for Elco, which outhit Pequea 9-5 but gave that advantage away with six errors.
